Forget that Twilight outcast Dante that Ninja Theory have created because the real Dante is coming to your HD console in 2012.

Capcom have announced the release of Devil May Cry Collection HD for PS3 and XBOX 360.

The three games will be released in February 2012.

The collection includes, Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition. The game will include unspecified extras as well as trophy/achievements.

Looks like I will be getting a Devil May Cry game next year after all!

Here is a comparison shot of the original game

Starhawk finally official

posted 14 May 2011 04:53 by Chris Smith   [ updated 14 May 2011 05:06 ]

After years of being the worst kept secret in gaming, Sony and Lightbox Entertainment have announced Starhawk, the spiritual sequel to the 2007 fan favourite shooter Warhawk.

Dylan Jobe the president of Lightbox Entertainment has been tweeting about the project for the best part of two years.

Unlike Warhawk, Starhawk has a single player campaign as well as 32 player online battles. Players assume the role of Emmett Graves, a Rift miner turned gun for hire altered by Rift Energy, found on the outer reaches of space. The enemy faction is the Outcast, humans turned into monsters following exposure to Rift Energy. The game has a very wild west art style and the theme tune on the games' official site reminds me very much of Firefly.

Here are a video of the game:

Nintendo to launch e-Shop June 7th

posted 12 May 2011 11:28 by Chris Smith

After promising a May launch for the service, gamers will have to wait an extra week or so for the update that will bring the internet browser and e-Shop.

"Nintendo of Europe has announced that the latest system update for the hand-held Nintendo 3DS™ system will be available in Europe starting June 7. By downloading the free update via a broadband Internet connection, Nintendo 3DS users can enjoy a number of new features and enhancements including an Internet browser and access to the Nintendo eShop, where users can browse and purchase downloadable content.

- Nintendo UK press release"

I am rather disappointed in this, I know it's only a week late, but the service should have been ready to roll when the console was launched. I just hope that make a big deal out at their E3 press conference, which is scheduled for the same day as the update.

posted 12 May 2011 11:19 by Chris Smith

To celebrate 25 years of the wonderful Dragon Quest series, Square-Enix have announced a collection that consists of Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest II and Dragon Quest III. Both the Famicom and Super Famicom versions are included.

No word on whether the collection will be released outside of Japan, but with Dragon Quest X intended for Wii at some point, getting this collection out there, especially as we didn't get any of these games in the first place.

While we wait, you should check the excellent DS remakes of IV, V and VI, also the DS exclusive IX.

Tales of games are heading to Europe

posted 11 May 2011 11:36 by Chris Smith   [ updated 11 May 2011 11:44 ]

The much wanted Tales of Graces f and Tales of Abyss are heading to Europe, Namco have announced.

"Namco Bandai Games to bring 2 new TALES OF titles to EMEA and Asia Pacific!
May 11, 2011
Iconic role-playing series coming to PlayStation® 3 and Nintendo 3DS™ across EMEA and Asia Pacific, with incredible anime-inspired graphics and innovative dynamic battle system.

At its Level Up event in Dubai today, NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe announced that acclaimed role-playing title Tales of Graces F™ is heading to EMEA and Asia Pacific in 2012 for PlayStation®3. Tales of Graces F offers brilliant HD graphics, an amazing dynamic real-time battle system, a deep and captivating story set within the rich world of Ephinea, and other unmissable features.

In the world of Ephinea, a civilization flourishes through the use of “Eleth,” a substance found in a material called “Crius.” Three kingdoms - Windor, Strata and Fendel - struggle for dominance of the world, while in the remote Windor town of Lhant, the eldest son of Baron Aston, 18 year old Asbel, strives to become a fully-fledged knight. However, Asbel is forced to give up his dream when his father passes away and he is obliged to succeed him as the Baron of Lhant.

Tales of Graces F is the latest episode in the renowned Tales series on the current generation of consoles, and the first European appearance of the franchise on PlayStation®3. The story is set against the backdrop of three countries beset by a turbulent conflict and is founded on the ideals of “defending your convictions” and “protecting the people important to you.”

For the first time in the Tales series, the combat system lets the player freely change attack style depending on the battle situation. The characters’ distinctive weapons can be swapped for different styles, and the new combat system is easier to control while simultaneously making battles more involving. The title is developed by NAMCO TALES STUDIO LTD. in Japan with the aim of bringing to life the rich depth of the evocative characters created by Mutsumi Inomata.

There is another Tales of surprise for the fans this year with Tales of the Abyss™ for Nintendo 3DS™, based on the critically-acclaimed PlayStation®2 role playing game of the same name, finally coming to PAL territories in 2011!

Tales of the Abyss delivers full 3D support and use of the dual screens to bring players closer to the action. Tales of the Abyss tells the story of Luke fon Fabre, sole heir to a family of aristocrats, as he is suddenly thrust into the outside world on an epic adventure. Naïve and spoiled by years of isolation, Luke struggles to learn of friendship, sacrifice, duty and of choice. With the fates of many in his hands, Luke's actions could ultimately save the world or bring about its very destruction.

Tales of Graces F will be available in 2012 and Tales of the Abyss will be available later this year across EMEA and Asia pacific."

Great news for us JRPG fans in Europe. Might have to play through Vepseria while I wait.

posted 10 May 2011 10:18 by Chris Smith

Oskari Hakkinen, head of franchise development at Remedy has said that more Alan Wake is coming,. But it be a full blown sequel, or DLC for the original.

There was a job listing on Remedy's website looking for staff to work on Kinect, maybe the next Alan Wake is an on rails adventure game?

We'll find out more at E3 hopefully.

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is Capcoms highest budget download title

posted 9 May 2011 15:05 by Mark Ord   [ updated 9 May 2011 15:30 ]

Capcom has revealed that the forthcoming download re-release of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike will have their bigest budget yet. Yes even more so than what the redrawn sprite work made by UDON Entertainment in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
Senior VP Christian Svensson stated :

"When I look at Street Fighter III, Street Fighter III is currently our highest budget - at least out of this office - the highest budget digital title we've done. It's higher than [Super Street Fighter II Turbo] HD Remix." he said.

"We're trying to raise the bar in a number of ways, no matter what, every time. Unless it's a straight opportunistic play, we're trying to raise the bar not just for Capcom, but for sort of the sector.

"Somebody's asking, 'A higher budget than HD Remix, even with all the new sprites [for that game]?' Yes, Street Fighter III's budget is higher than HD Remix, even when we had to make all the new sprites for HD Remix."

Community manager Seth Killian also chimed in, insisting, "I think you're gonna be very, very happy. If you like 3rd Strike, you've got nowhere to go but way, way up with this version."

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike was always my favourite Street Fighter game, and although I have fears of what they will do the beautifully animated sprites of the original I can't wait to see what work they've done to the re-release. All will be revealed in E3 next month.
